RESTORATIVE JUSTICE • HEALING • COLLECTIVE LIBERATION

The Queer Quilombo Series

ABOUT

The Queer Quilombo Series is a restorative justice, collective healing, and community education initiative designed for queer, trans, sapphic, and Two-Spirit communities, alongside allies in solidarity.

Inspired by the historical tradition of quilombos, communities established by Africans escaping enslavement in Brazil and their descendants, the series draws upon histories of resistance, ancestral knowledge, and collective survival to explore how communities can create more equitable, accountable, and liberated futures.

We recognize that community building requires more than bringing people together. It requires examining systems of power, understanding how harm occurs within our communities, honoring the wisdom of those who came before us, and developing practices rooted in healing, accountability, and shared responsibility.

Through educational workshops, facilitated conversations, community gatherings, restorative justice education, and somatic practices, the Queer Quilombo Series invites participants to learn, unlearn, reconnect, and collectively imagine new possibilities for liberation.

Our programming centers historically marginalized perspectives while exploring the intersections of colonialism, racial justice, queer liberation, cultural identity, ancestral knowledge, and collective care.

We gather not only to imagine liberated futures, but to develop the relationships, practices, and resources necessary to build them together.

OUR MISSION

To cultivate spaces for collective learning, restorative justice, healing, and ancestral connection that support queer communities in developing more equitable, accountable, and sustainable practices of care.
