About Sapphics in the City

Sapphics in the City | A Las Vegas Sapphic Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit creating sapphic-centered spaces for connection, education, wellness, joy, and community care in Southern Nevada.

OUR MISSION

How We Build Community

Sapphics in the City | A Las Vegas Sapphic Collective is a Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering sapphic and LGBTQ+ individuals through education, wellness, and community-centered programming.

Rooted in the values of joy, care, connection, accessibility, and inclusion, our work focuses on building intentional spaces where community members can access resources, develop meaningful relationships, and engage in collective growth.

Our initiatives include mentorship support for higher education, mental health and wellness programming, social justice and queer history education and community-based advocacy efforts.

We are committed to cultivating a community grounded in intergenerational care, cultural awareness, and collective empowerment. We honor those who came before us while building sustainable, affirming spaces for those here now and those to come.

Whether through workshops, community events, storytelling, or partnerships, our goal is to create spaces where sapphic individuals feel seen, supported, connected, grounded in care and led by community.

OUR VISION

Connection that lasts beyond the event

We are committed to cultivating a sapphic-centered community grounded in liberation, care, and equity. Through intentional programming and meaningful connection, we create spaces that honor lived experience, protect emotional and physical safety, and prioritize collective responsibility over visibility or profit.

This community exists to nurture connection, relentless joy, and resilience, especially in times that demand both softness and courage.

We remain rooted in inclusivity, accessibility, and shared joy, offering a gathering place for friendship, laughter, healing, and belonging.

This space is shaped by the sapphics who show up and the values we hold together.

Founded in February 2026 by Deja Wargo-Cole, Sapphics in the City | A Las Vegas Sapphic Collective began with a simple vision: to create sapphic community in Las Vegas that extended beyond nightlife and party culture.

We recognized that sapphic spaces in the Las Vegas area often felt fragmented, making it difficult for people to find consistent opportunities for connection, friendship, and belonging. We wanted to build something different. A community where people could come together around shared interests, hobbies, learning, wellness, service, and joy.

At our core, we remain committed to the same goal that inspired our founding: creating spaces where sapphic people can build lasting relationships, find support, and feel at home in their community.

Our Story

What started as a handful of coffee meetups quickly grew into something much larger. Today, Sapphics in the City is a volunteer-powered nonprofit creating opportunities for connection, belonging, education, and community care across Southern Nevada. While our community has grown, our commitment remains the same: ensuring sapphic folx have spaces where they can connect, thrive, and feel at home.

I love this group because it brings together a diverse and amazing group of sapphics in a way that feels genuine, supportive, and truly connected.
